About
Adam Plager, Founder and Principal
I've spent more than 25 years building data, forecasting, and AI systems for companies where the numbers have to be right: power and gas markets, oil and gas, retail energy, healthcare, and legal. I started my career in analytics and technology at Exxon and Enron, founded QKSS in 2002, and have led it ever since.
What I do now
I help leadership teams figure out where AI will actually pay off, then I architect and deliver it. That might be a one-week assessment, coaching your team through its first AI build, or leading the project end to end. I work directly with executives and engineers, so the strategy and the system match.
Background highlights
- Founder and Principal of QKSS since 2002, delivering enterprise software, data, and AI/ML work across energy, oil and gas, healthcare, logistics, and retail energy
- Co-founder and CTO of a legal AI company (2023 to 2025), leading the architecture of LLM-based document processing for legal and medical records
- ML and GenAI forecasting for ERCOT power prices (LMP and DART spreads)
- Deep expertise in electricity and natural gas markets, upstream operations, and retail energy analytics
- Azure cloud architecture: Databricks, AKS, Data Factory, Functions
- M.S., University of Florida, with a thesis on neural networks for predictive modeling
- Fluent in Spanish
I also write AI in Industry, a weekly LinkedIn newsletter on AI that's actually in production at named companies, read by 874+ subscribers.
